George Orwell has always been a symbol of the anti-socialism of the West. He is most well known for bashing the Soviet Union with works of fiction like Ayn Rand. Both writers are equally ignorant on the subject. In truth, Orwell never saw the country and relied entirely on the imperialist media for information, which should certainly tell you how accurate his opinion was. He served his imperialist masters disinformation campaign well.
Less well known is how Orwell was a snitch as well as anti-communist propagandist. His ignorance of the Soviet Union led him to rat out socialists. Meanwhile he was professing the whole time to be a “real” socialist. He “even corresponding with British secret services and keeping a blacklist of writers he deemed either “cryptos” (secret communists), “fellow travellers” (communist sympathizers), or outright members of the Communist Party. even corresponding with British secret services and keeping a blacklist of writers he deemed either “cryptos” (secret communists), “fellow travellers” (communist sympathizers), or outright members of the Communist Party.”
It has been clear for some time that Orwell was an ignoramus who had very little understanding of socialism. It’s clear that this is the type of socialist one finds in the West, the so-called “democratic socialists” as Orwell described himself. People who hate what they don’t understand and end up opposing socialism in the end with their non-violent tactics and cries of “that’s not real socialism”, because it isn’t utopian enough for their First World liberalism.
“Democratic Socialists” have always been anti-socialist, this is but another example.

Having studied Orwell’s life when I was a Trotskyist, it was made very clear to me he was a Marxist in name only. He proclaimed “Socialism” out of sympathy with the working class, but it is very clear that he had no concept of scientific socialism, and had never read Marxist theory. It is infantile to suggest that he was some form of apostate from Marxism-Leninism. His views were also quite conservative, his writings on women are very sexist and in many cases he openly despises feminism, and on other occasions he was blatantly Anti-Semitic. His essays despite purporting “Democratic Socialism” are very jingoistic. He also fought with Anarchists in Catalonia, and said he admired their system. But yet, he never became an anarcho-syndicalist, instead claiming “Trotskyism” or “Democratic Socialism”. Some well-informed socialist…
George Orwell FTW.
