UAE Planned to Invade Qatar with US Mercenaries

Speaking to the Spanish media Qatar’s former deputy prime minister says the United Arab Emirates planned an invasion of Qatar. The invasion was to be carried out by thousands of mercenaries. The goal had been to overthrow the government of Qatar and replace it with a regime that was subservient to a Saudi led coalition. No doubt the goal would be to capture the North Dome natural gas field. The field is said to have the world’s largest reserve of gas at 1,800 trillion cubic feet (51 trillion cubic metres) gas in place and some 50 billion barrels (7.9 billion cubic metres) of natural gas condensate in place.

The mercenary company was described as being linked to Blackwater. Blackwater which now goes by the name Academi. The same Spanish news source received an unidentified official source that said the training of such mercenaries took place at an Emirati military base at Liwa Oasis in Abu Dhabi.

Sources say that the invasion was halted by the US because they refused to give the green light for it. In September, two people close to Trump told Bloomberg that Saudi Arabia and the UAE had been considering the use of force in the early stages of their dispute with Qatar before the US president warned them to back off.

This all comes as Saudi-led hostilities were began against Qatar. The country has been accused of supporting terrorism in the region, an accusation the country denies. Immediately after, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain, and the UAE imposed a trade and diplomatic embargo on Qatar with the hopes of breaking them economically. The tactic had little success.

Not long afterwards a list of demands was given to Doha, the capital of Qatar. Of them demanded to break ties with Iran and shut down their state broadcaster Al-Jazeera. The demands were flatly rejected on the basis that they would surrender national sovereignty.

There’s a two-fold goal here for Saudi Arabia. Firstly, this is about gaining control of the North Dome gas fields. Qatar used to be under the control of Saudi Arabia. The second goal is to diplomatically isolate Iran from any allies. Qatar and Iran already have a mutually beneficial relationship sharing the North Dome/South Pars gas field peacefully. Iran has always been a target for Saudi aggression. Their support for in the invasions of Iraq, Syria, and Libya was along that same interest.

This new revelation shows the murderous intents of the Saudi-led forces in the region, and their intense desire to violate human rights – almost all of which for the benefit of US imperialism.
