Documents Show Crimea always Supported Unification with Russia

New information has been revealed showing that the people of Crimea had wanted to rejoin Russia. Documents show that the US knew that they wanted to rejoin when the entire Ukrainian conflict began. The documents show that once the Ukrainian government fell they would be looking to reunite with Russia. This has come out after British Cabinet papers were released to the National Archives in London.

According to a Sputnik report:

“In 1994 the British got a chance to learn first-hand about the strength of pro-Russian sentiments in Crimea. A visit by Foreign Secretary Douglas Hurd to Ukraine and Russia coincided with a crisis in relations between Kiev and Simferopol, Crimea’s capital. In May 1994, the Foreign Office informed Prime Minister John Major that the Crimean parliament, the Supreme Soviet, had “decided to renew the validity of the Crimean Constitution adopted in 1992″. This, the FCO memo said, meant ending the legal status of Crimea as part of Ukraine.”

This new information runs quite counter to the propaganda narrative of the NATO countries that have claimed Russia had “stolen” the land. We’ve all seen the images where the Ukrainian flag was taken down and the Soviet flag put in its place as if this weren’t enough to make the point! The idea that Russia somehow stole a piece of Ukraine should be put to rest once and for all.
