A few months ago the Israeli government alleged that Iran was producing a nuclear weapons program. They alleged that for several years the operation was being conducted out of a building in the capital of Tehran. At a big presentation carried out by the Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, a photo of the building was placed prominently on display. At the same time, the Israelis handed over dozens of CDs which they claimed contained files upon files on the alleged nuclear program. The community behind the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA or “Iran Nuclear Deal”) dismissed the evidence as nonsense, except for the United States on the order of President Donald Trump.
After the speech, many Iranians took selfies in front of the carpet cleaning center in Turquzabad which Netanyahu claimed was a “secret atomic warehouse”.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) who is responsible for overseeing Iran’s compliance with the JCPOA said that the information was out of date. It was data which they already were in possession of before the deal was made.
What was even more significant was the image of the supposed nuclear facility, which Israel claimed contained 15 kg of unspecified radioactive material. The Iranian government denied the claim and said that the building in question was a carpet cleaning business. According to reports, several IAEA inspectors have investigated the site and determined that indeed it was a carpet cleaning business. They also reaffirmed Iran’s compliance with the agreement in their proceeding quarterly IAEA report.
It is clear that Israel and Netanyahu lied about an alleged “secret atomic warehouse”. Yet the mainstream media has refused to report this. They were very quick to broadcast Netanyahu’s allegation repeatedly all over the 24-hour news channels for a few days. Yet, when the lie was proven to be just that, they were nowhere to be found. This lie by omission placed in people’s minds the idea that the accusation was true all along. Such is utter nonsense.
The other signatories to the JCPOA have repeatedly affirmed that Iran has never violated the agreement. The US and Israel continue to lie in order to justify the inhuman sanctions that have been placed on Iran. These sanctions violate the agreement and completely fly in the face of good faith, honesty, and integrity. The US has sought to punish Iran for years for their continued economic development and increasingly positive ties with its neighbours.
Israel lied, and it should be broadcast from the highest mountain. The Israeli regime should be exposed for what they are: liars.
